Another Solution "Canned" by RESCU.

G&J Greenall are a major distiller and bottler of gin and vodka for all sections of the drinks industry. Greenall's Original London Dry Gin, their primary brand, is still made to the original family recipe, and is supported by a brand extension, Greenall's Gin and Tonic, a canned product which grew in the UK by 70% during 2003/04.

This growth in volume and strategic imperative of brand growth was threatened when Greenall's incumbent supplier for producing Gin and Tonic decided at very short notice to retract from the canning business. In essence Greenalls at the end of December 2004 from a standing start, needed to source an alternative supply partner and have them up and running one month later to avoid very serious inventory issues.

RESCU Solutions were commissioned to source an alternative supply route, project manage all aspects of this new supply set up and deliver a potential solution within 5 weeks.

The difficulties were immediate, in that the potential supply sources in the UK were limited. However with RESCU's sourcing abilities and techniques, finding a quality solution was not an impossible task and RESCU turned to a Belgian producer who met the criteria for being flexible, responsive and adaptable enough to fit the production timeframe.

Within days of the project beginning RESCU had managed to bring together all the relevant parties and cut through all the key issues in a supplier / buyer relationship to progress to a position where the project was feasible within the timescales given effective Project Management.

A very complex network of inter-related tasks was project managed between existing packaging and ingredient suppliers through to new suppliers, Greenalls and their new producer. Lead-times were key as certain packaging components were already breaching standard delivery times, and to complicate matters further there was a country change in the equation with packaging having to be altered to fit mandatory legislative requirements.

However with RESCU's Project Management skills, negotiating skills and our focused approach, the many actions and approval steps required to deliver the project were completed on time. Greenall's were delivered a solution that not only protected their customer base, but also provided them with a supply solution to underpin their future aspirations of growth for the Greenall's Gin brand
