RESCU Solutions brings world class supplier relationship model to John Dewar and Sons.

John Dewar & Sons Ltd, part of the Bacardi Group of Companies commissioned RESCU Solutions to introduce a robust and unambiguous service relationship framework and performance measurement system for their core packaging supply base.

The issue was that the John Dewar Brand after acquisition from Diageo had been eased into a facility that had informal arrangements and no documented supply relationship with their core supply base. Additionally there was no formal mechanism for measuring performance across the key elements of their supply relationship and therefore no platform for ongoing improvements. Both John Dewar and their core suppliers as a consequence were having great frustration and bearing costs that were wholly unnecessary.

RESCU Solutions set out to review and understand the relationships that were in place at the time and to understand the key aspects of the service requirements of John Dewar. In addition RESCU set out to understand the key measurements needed to assist in the development of the framework for a world class relationship. The outputs from the review were that there were a number of areas that would need addressed from introducing an On Time In Full process, closing the loop of Non Conforming Materials, documenting and agreeing delivery lead times, having contingency plans, having a structured supplier introduction and ongoing audit process and ultimately putting in a measurement system to capture each element of the relationship.

The conclusion of the project saw the introduction of tailored Service Level Agreements across John Dewar’s core packaging supply base and a comprehensive measurement system that was scientific enough to measure poor performance, expected performance and exceptional performance across each of the different supply categories. Importantly the output from the measurement system would be used for ongoing supplier management and tabled at review meetings and is the platform to develop that all important world class supply relationship.
